You're not alone; I too am annoyed at the clapping during the Morning Dew quiet part.

This show was firmly in one star territory, with the worst setlist I've ever seen, until Jerry pulled out the Dew. There are no songs that give any room for group jamming, only solos, in the first set, and pre-drums second set is even worse. The show only picks up when the drummers get started. It's a long hot drum jam which carries over into space as Jerry joins the drummers in flight. Listen for the "Slipknot!" tease soon after he gets started. Space goes into typically blase Gimme Some Lovin', but then Jerry, as he so often did in the mid-80's, decides to save the show by pulling out Morning Dew. Despite some sloppiness, this is a solid, fully dynamic version, with a well-developed quiet section before building to the intense climax. BTW, am I the only Head who gets annoyed by the clapping in the quiet part of Morning Dew?

Throwin>Away is a standard but solid set ending. Drums through to the end is a pretty decent listen and maybe worth a download just for the Dew.

Played with energy not seen in 5 years at this point this tour turned out some really great high quality/energy shows. This one ranks right up there with the Philly Spectrum a week earlier. These few weeks were really a late(r) '80s peak for them imo. Spring 1987 was legit.

This sounds like a Dr. Don Pearson matrix mix to me, not one of the hack jobs Healy was throwing together at this point in time. I'm pretty sure of it. Lot of space in this recording, even with the FM compression, and great separation, clarity, and balance with none of the phasing characteristic of Dan's mixes in this era. The audience is loud between songs but the music sounds pretty much just great.

The show itself is typical-good Spring '87. Punchy, well played, crisp and strong, with great fullband cohesion and focused, on-point but limited soloing by Garcia. If you like the tour you'll like this one, and if not, then not. If you don't know, it's a fair one to check out, and the tape is definitely one of the best from the run.
